What is ASMR?

ASMR, or autonomous sensory meridian response, is a state of relaxation triggered by visual and auditory stimuli. You can feel the effects in the brain and the rest of your body using specific techniques.

What are the benefits of ASMR?

ASMR releases happy hormones that help you relax, relieve stress and even sleep better! There are different types of auditory and visual stimuli to help you sleep:

  • Whispering

  • Clear sounds (tapping or scratching on certain surfaces)

  • A soothing atmosphere to aid relaxation, slow movements

  • Soft singing

  • White noise (aircraft engine, fan etc.)

ASMR videos may have millions of views and prove very popular but that doesn't mean that everyone will get the same results from them. Sounds that are soothing to some people are the opposite to others.  

It may be worth watching different types of content as a test: visual, auditory or both ASMR. You may be surprised to find yourself relaxed and ready for the sandman.
